Proof of financial support: what the university examines

Yes, the two official documents below say the applicant must provide an economic guarantee proof. Article 12 of the Measures for the Administration of Schools Recruiting and Educating International Students (Order No. 42 of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security) says the university examines the economic guarantee certificate of a foreign applicant. Section 2.6 of the Quality Standards for the Higher Education of International Students in China (Trial) says the university shall require applicants to provide proof that meets its standard.

What Article 12 says

Article 12 says that a university shall examine the admission qualifications and the economic guarantee certificate of foreign citizens who apply. It says the university shall also test or assess them. It says admission of international students is decided by the school. It says a school may not admit applicants who do not meet the admission conditions.

Article 12 gives no amount.

What section 2.6 says

Section 2.6 says the university shall set the economic guarantee standard for applicants. The university shall base the standard on tuition, accommodation fee standards and the typical living cost of the area. The standard shall allow reasonable expenses for study, living and international travel to be fully covered. If the local education authority issues a guidance standard, the university shall follow that standard.

Section 2.6 says the university shall require applicants to provide proof that meets its standard. It says the university shall review the proof on the principle of prudence and due diligence.

Section 2.6 gives no amount.
